Take Three with Eliza Rose
Eliza Rose’s journey into music doesn’t sound all that unusual on paper. She first got a foot in the door of the industry working at a local record shop, which then inspired her to pick up DJing. What’s more remarkable is that she was only 15 when she landed a position at London’s Flashback Records, and was already writing and signing on her own songs at the time. The experience with Flashback kindled an early love for soul, jazz, funk, house and disco, sounds that now inform her tastes as a selector.
It’s the kind of thing she plays on her monthly Rinse FM show, a slot that’s brought her wider exposure in tandem with her place in the much-loved female DJ collective Rhythm Sister. She also plays as part of the duo BINKS&LIZE, runs the label and party Honeytrap and still occasionally writes her own songs, but in recent years she’s become best known for the unknown gems in her collection. For our first Take Three feature, she selects three of them to represent her pathway into music, current tastes, and how she’d like to be remembered looking back on her life.
